Accelerated Program in Public Health (MPH)

Fellows train at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, a Level 1 trauma center with excellent facilities related to patient care and laboratories specializing in biomechanics, gait evaluation and human anatomy. Beyond clinical responsibilities, fellows also have the opportunity for mentored research to conduct, present and defend clinical and basic science research.

Cardiology fellows spend a minimum of 24 months in clinical training, gaining expertise in the diagnosis and management of a broad spectrum of cardiovascular diseases. At least six months are dedicated to research, and the remaining six months offer fellows the flexibility of either continuing clinical rotations or research, with an additional optional fourth year of fellowship continuing focus on clinical or research-activity. Fellows train at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, with optional community service at cardiology specialty clinics in the Chicago area.

Each academic year is composed of 13 rotation blocks, with residents primarily training at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in downtown Chicago. Pediatric rotations are at nearby Lurie Children's Hopsital, and forensic pathology blocks are at the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The Combined Internal Medicine-Dermatology Residency Program is designed to prepare residents for careers in both Internal Medicine and Dermatology. Residents' primary training site is Northwestern Memorial Hospital with rotations available at Jesse Brown VA Medical Center and outpatient VA clinic. Fellows also have access to the Northwestern Center for Advanced Surgical Education, with skill stations, simulators and dry and wet labs for use in educational conference. This program focuses on mentorship, with one-on-one time split equally between faculty members who provide a hands-on experience in sports, trauma, reconstruction, revision surgery and total ankle replacement. Extensive clinical research opportunities are available, with a requirement for publishing scholarly activity.

The Vitreoretinal Diseases & Surgery Fellowship is a two-year medical and surgical program ideal for ophthalmology residency graduates seeking advanced subspecialty training. Our programs provide intensive medical and surgical training curricula designed to develop management expertise in vitreoretinal diseases, ranging from common conditions to never-before described diseases. Fellows train at the Sorrel Rosin Eye Center on the Northwestern medical campus in downtown Chicago and a nearby private practive group. Opportunities to care for children with complex ophthalmologic and retinal diseases occurs at the Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago.
