 | Dr. Hayes is an instructor in radiation oncology. He received his undergraduate degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) in 1983 and his MD degree from West Virginia University in 1987. After an internship in general surgery at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, MD, he completed his residency in radiation oncology at FSM in 1991. Dr. Hayes joined the medical staff in September 2008. He received his MBBS (equivalent to U.S. MD) from the Medical College Kottayam in Kerala, India in 1988. He served a residency in radiation oncology at the Regional Cancer Center in Kerala, India and received his MD in 1991. Next, he served an internal medicine residency at Erlanger Medical Center, University of Tennessee in Chattanooga, and then a radiation oncology residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. He also holds appointments at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Children’s Memorial Hospital. He received his Radiation Oncology Physics training at University of Chicago Medical Center. He was a Faculty at Loyola University Chicago Radiotherapy Department before he became the Director of Medical Physics at Alexian Brothers Health System. He has also been teaching a didactic MS Graduate Course for Medical Physicists at Rosalind Franklin University. He is the first author for the 19 papers out of his 28 full scientific publications besides miscellaneous abstracts, posters and oral presentations. His research interests cover all aspects of general and therapeutic radiological physics in external beam radiation therapy and brachytherapy. In addition, she holds several other appointments at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Children’s Memorial Hospital. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology with distinction from Northwestern and received her MD degree cum laude from St. Louis University School of Medicine in 1983. Dr. Marymont served an internship in internal medicine at the University of Illinois Hospital in Chicago and her residency in Northwestern’s Department of Radiology, Division of Radiation Oncology (now designated as this separate department). He obtained his medical degree at the University of Zambia in 1981 and commenced his residency there at the Ndola Central Hospital. He moved to the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 1984 and completed his residency in radiation oncology in 1988 when he took up an Assistant Professorship in Human Oncology. He was then promoted to Associate Professor and became the Director of the Radiation Oncology Residency Training Program before becoming Interim Chair and then Chair of the department. Dr. Mehta has expertise in the treatment of both lung and brain tumors and concentrates his practice in these areas. View faculty profile |  | Dr. Mittal is professor of radiation oncology and chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology and an attending physician at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Meerut University in India and received his MBBS (equivalent to U. S. MD) from Christian Medical College in Ludhiana, India in 1973. A flexible internship and residency in internal medicine were served at the Christian Medical College and Hospital. Afterward, he completed an additional residency in radiation oncology at Northwestern and a fellowship at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Dr. Mittal has previously been a faculty member at Washington University in St. Louis and the University of Pittsburgh. She also is an adjunct professor at the Robert H. Lurie Cancer Center of Northwestern University. She received her bachelor’s degree in biological sciences and her master’s degree in molecular biology and physiology from Belgrade University in Yugoslavia. In 1997, she received her PhD in biology from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in honors biology, magna cum laude from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. He received his MD from the Feinberg School with distinction in 1990. He served an internship in internal medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and a residency in radiation oncology there as well. Dr. Strauss completed his residency training in Radiation Oncology at Rush University Medical Center. He received his MD from the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine, as well as an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, with a concentration in Health Administration and Policy. He has clinical and research experience in several areas, including heterotopic ossification prophylaxis, partial breast irradiation, breast boost irradiation and health services research. She received her bachelor’s degree in biological sciences summa cum laude from Youngstown State University in Ohio and her PhD in microbiology from the Medical College of Ohio in 1980. Afterward, she served as a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Immunology and Department of Cell Biology.
