The mission of the Psychiatry Residency Training Program is to prepare physicians to become competent, sensitive psychiatrists capable of providing comprehensive clinical services to a wide spectrum of patients. Informed by the biopsychosocial model, residency training is anchored by a tripartite system of broad and intensive clinical experience, individual supervision, and didactic seminars. The educational program is conceptualized to address three major areas of physician competence: the acquisition of skills in patient care, the establishment of a medical/psychiatric knowledge base, and the professionalism and personal growth of the individual as he/she develops an identity as a psychiatrist. The program emphasizes the value of an in-depth understanding of individuals. This provides the foundation for the program's exceptional proficiency in the teaching of psychotherapy, biological psychiatry, research, and the realities of today's health care delivery systems. The integration of these perspectives is the most important goal of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine's educational efforts. | | Application Process Stipends
