Clinical and Outcomes Research

Clinical and Outcomes Research under the direction of the Department of Dermatology is conducted both at the Northwestern University (NU) and Children’s Memorial Hospital (CMH) dermatology clinics. All of the clinical faculty serve as principal investigators in clinical research studies. Dr. Dennis West, Director of the Dermatopharmacology Program, directs the Dermatology Clinical Trials Unit. Our dermatology residents and clinical trials postdoctoral fellows participate with faculty in the design and performance of clinical research. Our clinical research fellowship is one of largest programs of its kind in the country and fellows are primarily based at either NU or CMH.

In May 2011, the National Cancer Institute awarded a grant to examine how patients with a history of melanoma and their partners work together to perform skin checks. Dr. June Robinson is the principal investigator and Dr. Mary Martini is the co-investigator at Northwestern University.
