Biography
Dr. Pedram Gerami is an associate professor of dermatology at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. He is board certified in dermatology and dermatopathology. Dr. Gerami completed his residency training in dermatology at the University of Iowa in the Department of Dermatology and completed his fellowship training in dermatopathology in the Division of Dermatology at the University of Chicago. He has special interests in melanoma and melanocytic nevi from a clinical, histopathologic and research perspective. Dr. Gerami's clinical focus includes taking care of pigmented lesion patients and his dermatopathology practice includes the entire spectrum of skin cancers, tumors, and dermatoses. Dr. Gerami's research interests is focused on developing better diagnostic tools in the evaluation of melanoma and nevi. He is also on staff at Children's Memorial Hospital and works closely with the pediatric dermatology staff in the evaluation of a variety of pediatric dermatopathology cases including difficult melanocytic tumors such as spitz nevi.
Research Interests
Dr. Gerami has research interests in improving diagnostic and prognostic tools for the study of melanoma. He initiated the molecular diagnostics lab at Northwestern University, which is one of the few labs internationally using fluorescense in situ hybridization as a routine diagnostic tool in the evaluation of melanocytic neoplasms. His research interests also include pediatric dermatopathology and complex melanocytic neoplasms in children such as spitz nevi.
