The World Transplant Congress (WTC) is a significant event in the field of organ transplantation, organized jointly by the American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS), the American Society of Transplantation (AST), and The Transplantation Society (TTS). The event serves as a platform for experts from around the globe to meet and share research, discuss advancements, and address challenges in organ transplantation.

WTC 2025 will be taking place August 2-6, 2025 in San Francisco, CA. Below are our contributions this year.

Awards & Grants

Congratulations to Connor Lantz, PhD for receiving the 2025 AST Fellowship Research Grant for his project “Decoding Inflammation-Driven Epigenetic Mechanisms Regulating HLA Expression in Glomerular Endothelial Cells.”

The purpose of these grants is to foster the training of early career investigators who have the potential to contribute to transplant science/immunobiology and/or treatment of transplant recipients. The grants encourage continued commitment of high-quality applicants to their careers in transplantation. Recognition for this award will take place during the AST Presidential Address & Society Awards Ceremony scheduled for Sunday, August 3, 2025 at 11:30AM in the SFO Ballroom 

Congratulations to Satish Nadig, MD, PhD, Carl Atkinson, PhD, and Dinesh Jaishankar, PhD for receiving the 2025 ASTS-TransMedics Faculty Perfusion Grant for their proposal “Liver Regeneration using Normothermic Machine Perfusion: new perspectives on old problems.”

This grant was established to provide qualified ASTS investigators with dedicated research funding in machine perfusion. Recognition for this award will take place during the ASTS Presidential Address & Society Awards Ceremony scheduled for Monday, August 4, 2025 at 11:30AM in the SFO Ballroom.
