How to Apply

We are accepting applications and inquiries for July 1, 2024 and beyond. 

Candidates must hold either an MD, DO or PhD degree. MD/DO candidates must have completed at least two years of clinical training prior to enrolling in the program. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, noncitizen nationals or have been lawfully admitted for permanent residence at the time of appointment.

Application Packet

To indicate interest and begin project discussions, please submit an application packet via email to ctc@northwestern.edu. Our program directors are happy to discuss your specific interests and work on mentor pairing.

Please send the following items:

  • Application Cover Page
  • Biosketch/CV of applicant, including publications
  • Career goals summary (one page maximum description of how the research project relates to the candidate’s career goals and to advancing the field of transplant surgery and/or gastrointestinal transplant-related research)
  • Letter(s) of support from current fellowship/residency program director or PhD thesis adviser with the option of up to two additional letters from a clinical or research mentor(s) who is well acquainted with the trainee

Interview Packet

Select applicants will be chosen to present their research proposals at an Executive Committee meeting. Materials requested are listed below.

  • Interview packet cover page (should include trainee’s name, adviser’s name, trainee’s graduate program and/or department and the project title)
  • Research plan (a one-page description of the trainee’s research project as it relates to transplantation)
  • Career goals summary (a one-page maximum description of how the research project relates to the candidate’s career goals and to advancing the field of transplant surgery and transplant-related research)
  • Biosketch/CV of applicant and research adviser(s), including publications
  • Letter(s) of support from current fellowship/residency program director or PhD thesis adviser with the option of up to two additional letters from a clinical or research mentor(s) who is well acquainted with the trainee
  • Presentation of research project
