Director's Message

Welcome! I am pleased that you are interested in our American Society of Transplantation (AST)/American Society of Nephrology (ASN) accredited Transplant Nephrology Fellowship Program, and that your interest has led you here to Northwestern University and our Comprehensive Transplant Center.

Northwestern performed its first kidney transplant in 1964 and since then over 7,000 more.  We are one of the largest living donor kidney transplant programs in the country and one of the feature traits of our kidney transplant program is our emphasis on living donors. This volume includes diverse and complex transplant patient populations which provide our fellows with enormous opportunities. Our fellows get a comprehensive education in continuous patient care management not only from pre- and post-transplant recipients but also evaluating and caring for our living donors.

Our fellows also have the opportunity to participate in our vast up-to-the-minute research initiatives and collaborations. The Comprehensive Transplant Center is dedicatedly involved in numerous multi-translational research projects in the fields of clinical research, outcomes, quality of life and basic science.

You will have the opportunity to work with renowned doctors and scientists. Join us in the Comprehensive Transplant Center and help us build a better future.
