Ackermann Named Director of the NUCATS Community-Engaged

Ronald T. Ackermann, MD, MPH, FACP, was named the director of the NUCATS Community-Engaged Research Center (CERC). Ackermann is a general internist with advanced training in epidemiology, public health, and health services research from the University of Washington School of Public Health in Seattle. He is formerly associate professor of Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine and director of the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute’s Community Health Engagement Program. He is a national expert in healthcare-community partnerships to address unhealthy lifestyle behaviors and improve the prevention and control of common chronic illnesses such as asthma, congestive heart failure, and diabetes. He has served as a lead evaluation consultant for Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), the Lewin Group, and the Center for Health Care Strategies, as well as an expert advisor on numerous national initiatives.
Improvement Day 2011
During the hospital’s 16th annual Improvement Day, Northwestern Memorial will celebrate innovative projects that have improved patient care and hospital operations. Posters will be on display on Thursday, October 20 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the third floor of the Feinberg Pavilion in the Krumlovsky Atrium.
Two Named President-Elect of National Health Organizations
Congratulations to Michelle A. Janney, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, senior vice president and Wood-Prince Family Chief Nurse Executive at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, the new president-elect of the American Organization of Nurse Executives; and to Holli Salls, vice president of Public Relations, Marketing and Physician Services at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, the new president-elect of the American Hospital Association’s Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development.
