If you think an upcoming research paper is highly newsworthy and relevant to the general public, please contact them well in advance of online publication of your paper — ideally, as soon as it is preliminarily accepted or sooner. Or, if you are an expert and can comment on a topic that is breaking in the news, please let them know.
