Letters of Recommendation

A letter of recommendation on a student's behalf serves to provide valuable information to program directors. You will need several letters of recommendation for your application. Each program requests a specific number. Usually, a total of three to four letters are required in addition to the MSPE. Often, one of the three is expected to be from the department chair. Please check with each program and their requirements before sending letters of recommendation.

If a letter writer has not yet submitted a letter of recommendation, the applicant should follow up with the letter writer in a timely manner.

All of your letters of recommendation must be uploaded through the ERAS Letter of Recommendation Portal. This will be done by your letter authors or their designees. This is a change in how letters have historically been handled and we wanted to make you aware of this as you begin to contact your letter authors.

Once you add your letters authors to your MyERAS application, they will be able to upload their letters for you. In order to do this, each of your letter authors will need to set up an account and upload their letters using the information you will provide to them once you have access to your application in May. ERAS created a User Guide that you can give to your letter authors for further assistance. You can also direct them to the ERAS Letter of Recommendation Portal.

More detailed information will be available for you via ERAS site as the season opening gets closer. Should you have questions for ERAS, please contact them by email at MyERAS@aamc.org or by phone at 202-862-6264.

If you have any additional questions, please email Allison Matricaria.
