Synthesis & Application Models (SAM)
Synthesis and Application Modules (SAM) are weeklong opportunities to synthesize, integrate and apply learnings, integrated throughout the medical school curriculum.
- During Phase 1a/b, students revisit prior learnings, integrate diverse concepts and apply them new clinical scenarios.
- During Phases 2 and 3, students expand on prior concepts and skills to prepare for upcoming clerkships and electives.
Teaching strategies used during the SAM weeks include all-class and small-group simulations, case-based learning, clinical reasoning, ethics panel discussions and opportunities for learning assessment.
