Rehabilitation Robotics Laboratory
The main focus of this laboratory is the implementation of electromechanical devices or robots for the quantification and treatment of movement impairments (abnormal muscle synergies, spasticity, paralysis, reduced range of motion) resulting from injury to the nervous system. The research in the laboratory deals with the specific requirements for the use of robotic devices to quantify these impairments as well as treat them effectively. In addition, concerted efforts to simplify new technologies based on requirements dictated by the neuromechanisms underlying the movement disorders studies in the laboratory are underway. Work in this laboratory is supported with funding from NIH.
