Why did you choose Northwestern? I chose Northwestern for the world-class clinical experience in and out of the OR. This, coupled with the camaraderie between residents I noticed during my interview dinner and interview, made choosing Northwestern a no brainer. 

Hobbies: Hiking with my wife and dog around the many trails in Chicago, Watching Michigan (and unfortunately Detroit Lions) Football, Trying new Restaurants, Travel

Why did you choose Northwestern? Northwestern has an incredible breadth of clinical experiences and faculty dedicated to prioritizing the education of its learners. As a visiting medical student I was drawn to the strong didactic program and supportive environment Northwestern has created for residents.

Hobbies: Live music, fitness, and spending time with my new French Bulldog puppy!

Hobbies: Fishing, bike riding, soccer, and skiing

Clinical Interests: I’m looking forward to exploring what each field of anesthesiology has to offer. I’ve always found Neuroanesthesia particularly interesting.

Why did you choose Northwestern? Northwestern Anesthesiology offers the best opportunity to advance my professional potential, including the Global Health Clinical Scholars Program. It was also highly important for me that the program protects education time and prioritizes resident wellness. This was made clear from the very beginning, including an excellent talk by Dr. Nathan. In addition, after flying all across the country and interviewing in so many cities on both coasts, Chicago was the one that stood out and felt like home.

Hobbies: Riding my bike along lakeshore bike path, paddle boarding, keeping up with the news (yes, I enjoy reading the world news even after 2020).

Hobbies: Cooking, reading, traveling

Why did you choose Northwestern? The co-residents, the breadth of case experiences, strong emphasis on resident education and wellness. 

Hobbies: Fitness, helping my wife cook, watching sports, being outside. 

Clinical Interests: Unsure for now, but time will tell.

Why did you choose Northwestern? I love the personality of the program! Everyone has such a great attitude and works hard while having tons of fun together. The didactics are amazing and the faculty are really invested in our well-being.

Hobbies: Eating, jigsaw puzzles, spending time with family and friends, playing with my parents' dog Jiro

Clinical Interests: I'm still exploring my options!

Why did you choose Northwestern? I chose Northwestern because it is a well-respected program that is strong in all the anesthesia sub-specialties. Getting to live in Chicago is a nice bonus! I didn't know this when I chose Northwestern, but my co-residents are wonderful and I'm so grateful to be going through residency with such a solid group of people.

Hobbies: Reading, watching movies, running, exploring Chicago

Why did you choose Northwestern? On my interview day, the residents were so friendly and positive, and the faculty were really supportive. I was impressed by all of the learning opportunities and resources that Northwestern is able to offer. Chicago is also such a beautiful city. I have been loving it here so far!

Hobbies: Running, kickboxing, swimming, watching reality TV, listening to music

Why did you choose Northwestern? I loved my rotations in general anesthesia, ICU, and OB anesthesia, the residents are so kind and friendly, Chicago is a great city, great OB anesthesia program

Why did you choose Northwestern? I felt the most at home during the interview day and pre-interview dinner. Obviously the clinical and research opportunities are amazing and the location is ideal, but what sealed it for me was meeting the residents. I also wanted to be in a big city and not too far from home.

Why did you choose Northwestern? Amazing location in downtown Chicago, strong didactic program, strong surgical programs, and hard-working laid back co-residents

Hobbies: Homebrewing, live music, cooking, singing, being obsessed with my Peloton bike

Clinical Interests: Cardiothoracic and Critical Care Anesthesiology

Why did you choose Northwestern? When I interviewed at Northwestern, I was most impressed with the culture of the program and hospital in general. It was clear to me that this is such a special place to train and several months into intern year, I couldn't be happier that I made the right decision. The residents, faculty and staff I met on interview day were awesome and I was really impressed by the facilities as well. I knew I wanted to come back home to Chicago for my training, and I felt training at a large, prestigious academic center would help me become the best version of myself as a future leader in the field of anesthesiology.

Hobbies: I played Division I soccer in college so I love to play soccer in my free time, in addition to most other sports. My wife and I love going on runs along the Lakefront Trail when it's nice out. We also have a mini Goldendoodle puppy who keeps us busy!

Clinical Interests: Critical Care

Why did you choose Northwestern? I loved the people, breadth and depth of clinical experiences, and couldn’t miss out on the opportunity of being in the heart of Chicago!

Hobbies: Trying out new restaurants, dessert places, cafes...I’m very motivated by food. I also love to travel (pre-COVID), and enjoy knitting/crochet.

Why did you choose Northwestern? Focus on resident education and work life balance. Positive interview day experience. Get to live/work in Chicago.

Hobbies: Hockey, soccer, model airplanes

Clinical Interests: Pain and Cardiac, but very open right now.

Why did you choose Northwestern? The breadth of experience you get while here is second to none. The teaching and faculty support is awesome and I get to train at a nationally ranked and recognized institution. You get to see everything and there’s so much the program offers. It is the most well rounded program and really cares about their residents and wellness.

Hobbies: Skiing, cooking/trying new restaurants, being outdoors and on the water. Always watching the Bears and Cubbies!

Why did you choose Northwestern? 

High clinical complexity and volume, and most importantly their emphasis on work life balance and supporting their residents’ health and wellness.

Hobbies: Trying new bars and restaurants, going on walks on the beautiful Chicago lakefront, Peloton, and watching Formula 1 races when I can!

Favorite thing about Chicago? Being near family, and having a world class city that also offers an affordable cost of living.

I chose Northwestern for the people I met while interviewing, the residents I had talked to and the support I saw that residents receive from personal requests to career interests!

Favorite thing about Chicago? My favorite thing about Chicago is amount of options for amazing food and things to do, especially when not working! You could literally go somewhere new every week of residency and still not experience everything!
