2022 Applied Practice Experience (APEx) Poster Session

On Monday, May 16, 2022, the Master of Public Health Program at Northwestern University hosted its first in-person Applied Practice Experience (APEx) poster session since 2019!

As a degree requirement, all MPH students take part in an APEx in partnership with a community organization or government agency with the purpose of gaining practical public health experience. Through this placement, students work on projects that meet the needs of their partner organizations and the population(s) they serve, producing tangible public health products.

May 16th's poster session was an incredible chance for students to share their project-specific deliverables and overall experience working with individual partner agencies. Projects represented a wide array of interest areas including informal caregiving and Alzheimer's, health literacy evaluations, pool surveillance and drowning prevention, childhood nutrition, and health equity.

Fun music, food/drink, raffle prizes, and the attendance of community partners and student's families helped set a welcoming atmosphere for this event. Stay tuned for more information about our next event- the fall 2022 APEx poster session!
