Leadership & Education Program for Students in Integrative Medicine (LEAPS into IM)

Leadership & Education Program for Students in Integrative Medicine (LEAPS) is an Academic Consortium for Integrative Medicine and Health program. The mission of LEAPS into IM is to enhance the leadership skills and knowledge base of future health leaders in integrative medicine. Integrative medicine is uniquely qualified to assist patients to reach a place of healing in the face of chronic disease. Individuals with chronic disease and others who have interest in prevention and wellness are increasingly engaging in alternative, complementary, holistic, spiritual and traditional ways of healing. They are an important part of an integrative medicine approach to health and healing. Integrative medicine places the patient as the center of the healthcare team and utilizes the patient's entire life narrative when considering health outcomes.

LEAPS into IM will take place on June 12 - 17, 2022 in Oceanside, CA. Applications received in 2020 prior to the Covid shutdown will be honored in 2022. Therefore, the application process for 2022 will not occur.

The Humanistic Elective in Activism, Reflective Transformation and Integrative Medicine (HEART IM)

HEART-IM is a program of the American Medical Students Association that provides 25 fourth-year medical students with a unique and rewarding way to conclude their medical school careers and prepare for their future work as healer-physicians. The 2022 program is complete; please check back in October for 2023 information.

Program applicants should have a strong interest in exploring the path of healing within the modern world and medical system. The monthlong elective is structured as a group exploration of what it means to be a healer and how we can each work to embody it as we progress in our careers.
