Featured Sessions
Precision Education Shark Tank
We’re hosting a Shark Tank-style competition at the 16th Annual Medical Education Day, and we’re looking for innovative healthcare educators to pitch their ideas in precision education. It’s a chance to win real funding for your project (up to $10,000), get expert feedback, and showcase your vision for transforming how we teach in healthcare. If you’ve got a bold idea, we want to hear it!
What is Precision Medical Education?
It’s the use of data to deliver the right educational intervention to the right learner at the right time. Just like precision medicine tailors treatments to individual patients, precision medical education personalizes learning based on a learner's performance, needs, and context — making education more efficient, effective, and impactful.

Details
Selected presenters and teams will have approximately 5 min to pitch to a panel of experts. Experts will select winners to receive research funding to take their idea from pitch to reality!
Shark Tank Timeline
- August 3rd: Submissions DUE
- Sept 9th: Selected Presenters notified
- Sept 23rd, 1:15 PM: Pitches during Medical Education Day
Sample Project Ideas:
- You are interested in creating personalized learning analytics dashboards for your fellows that pool feedback from various sources and allows both learners and educators to track their performance over time. The money could be used to buy out developer time to create the platforms.
- You would like to automatically analyze the quality of resident notes in the EHR but you need human raters to create the “gold standard” to train AI. The money could be used to buy out some time for two raters.
- You are interested in using EHR data to automatically create procedure logs for your learners. With funds from Shark Tank you could buy the time of a data analyst from IT to begin to build the necessary steps to mine EHR data looking for resident procedural notes, for example, and thereafter see whether or not you can map that data to an electronic log book.
Pitch your precision education project and compete for real research funding. Big ideas. Big impact. Are you in?
