Hi! My name is Nisheka Vanjani, and I am a first-year student at FSM. I was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs, and I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2021. Since starting school at Feinberg, I have had amazing experiences with the students and faculty and the overall Feinberg curriculum. Why did you choose Feinberg?
Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, Feinberg has always been my dream school. What initially drew me to Feinberg was the endless opportunities at this institution and the emphasis placed on diversity and advocacy. Whether it be research, community service, advocacy, global health, etc., there are so many ways to get involved. After starting medical school here, I can confidently say that this has proven to be true. There are so many students and faculty at this institution that are committed to helping you dive into every aspect of medicine that you are passionate about!
Tell us a bit about your interests and hobbies outside the classroom:
Dancing is a big part of my life and one of my favorite hobbies. For about five years, I have been learning a traditional Indian dance form called Bhangra. In college, I used to dance for my university's Bhangra team, and now that I live in Chicago, I dance for a team in the Chicago area. One of my favorite facts to tell people is that the word "Bhangra" itself means "to be intoxicated with joy." I think this is the best way to describe how I feel when I am dancing!
