Why did you choose Feinberg?
Feinberg's early clinical exposure through the Education-Centered Medical Home (ECMH) stood out to me during the admissions process, and now I am especially grateful to have regular clinical exposure to keep me grounded and remind me why I am studying medicine in the first place! I also enjoyed talking to current students during the interview and Second Look process– I felt like the class had a fun, friendly, and relaxed vibe, which is something I wanted since medical school can be a stressful and busy time.
What do you enjoy most about living in Chicago?
Chicago is huge and diverse, meaning you can find just about anything you could want to do, but it still manages to have a pretty friendly atmosphere, so I think it's a great place to spend four years of your life. I also love having the lakefront so close to the school– it's perfect for running, biking, or walking with friends in between classes!
How would you describe the curriculum at Feinberg? What do you find unique or innovative?
I have been thoroughly impressed with how well interwoven the curriculum is using the different curricular threads. Admin does a great job teaching health holistically– in one day during the cardiac module, we could have lectures on action potentials in the heart, a skills session on the cardiac exam, a small group on the ethics of pacemaker reuse or family-witnessed CPR, and a discussion on the global impact of cardiovascular disease. I love the variety because it helps prevent falling in a rut while learning and studying!
