Hi! My name is Mia Andreoli and I'm a member of the class of 2024 at Feinberg. I am from the Chicago area and graduated from Northwestern in 2019. I took one gap year and worked at a geriatrics primary care clinic in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions about Feinberg; I am happy to help!

Tell us about an experience that made you truly feel part of the “Feinberg Family”

The Feinberg students and faculty have been so welcoming and supportive, which made the transition to medical school very smooth. There are so many inspiring people in my M1 class and I am pleasantly surprised by how well I have gotten to know many people, despite having classes online.

The ECMH program has also made me feel like a part of the Feinberg community. Through ECMH, I go to an internal medicine clinic with the same preceptor and students for all four years at Feinberg. As a result, I have been able to get to know students from all classes at Feinberg that I might not have otherwise met, especially if they are in their clinical years. The older students in my ECMH have been so supportive and helpful and it is amazing to see how much they know about medicine and patient care, even by their M2 year. It makes me excited to learn more and eventually pass on their advice to new students in my ECMH.

Tell us a bit about your interests and hobbies outside the classroom.

In my free time, I like running on the lakefront trail and exploring different restaurants in Chicago!

Tell us about your involvement in Feinberg’s student groups

Feinberg has so many great student groups to get involved in. I am in the Buddy Program, which pairs each student with a mentor who has dementia, holds monthly seminars on topics in neurology, and has large club events like the annual Valentine's Day Party. Although the club has been functioning online this year, I have really enjoyed getting to know my buddy, hearing stories about his life, and learning how to communicate better with someone with dementia. I am also involved in the Student Interest Group in Neurology and American Women's Medical Association, which have been great for making friends and facilitating shadowing opportunities.

At Feinberg, any club event is open to all students and the commitment is what you make of it. This flexibility has been great for getting exposure to different specialties, meeting other students, and trying new activities.
