Hello Future Feinberg Community!!
My name is Manushi Shah and I am currently an M1 at the Feinberg School of Medicine. It's an absolute pleasure to meet everyone and to be able to welcome you to Feinberg! I'm from Schaumburg Illinois and went to school at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. So far, I've absolutely loved my transition into medical school - from how kind everyone I've met here is to how well Feinberg eases you into the curriculum. I love exploring cute cafes/restaurants in Chicago, doing rooftop yoga/Pilates and traveling, with my favorite destination so far being Iceland. I would love to hear more about you and please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have!
Why did you choose Feinberg?
I chose Feinberg because of how nice and supportive everyone I met at second look was, how Feinberg truly supports students' wellness, and the integrated curriculum with early clinical experiences. In terms of wellness, Feinberg does an amazing job of intentionally designing the curriculum to allow you to explore your interests, and they are so intentional about supporting you to be your best possible self, both professionally and personally. And as I'm sure you've heard before, the people here is truly what makes me so grateful to be here - they are surely some of the sweetest, most genuine people I've ever met and faculty here is always so willing to teach. mentor, and have you shadow them. Additionally, ECMH was a big plus as you're in the hospital starting the first week of school and talking to patients in your ECMH within the first month!

What do you enjoy most about living in Chicago?
I absolutely LOVE living in Chicago! Feinberg's location is truly in the heart of Chicago and I have been able to explore so much of the city since moving here! From being able to run beside Lake Michigan, attend so many amazing art/music festivals, and being able to explore food from so many different cultures - I couldn't have picked a better city to live in.
How would you describe the curriculum at Feinberg? What do you find unique or innovative?
From being able to talk to patients starting the first week of school to the emphasis on health equity, the humanities, the business of medicine and data science, the curriculum really prepares you to become an exceptional well-rounded physician, patient advocate, and leader - far beyond the basic sciences. My favorite topics so far have been culinary medicine, artificial intelligence in healthcare, ethics, and having so many patient perspectives/panels integrated into our clinical medicine sessions.
