What was the biggest challenge you faced when starting medical school?

As a first-generation college student, beginning my medical education was very intimidating to me. I suffered from imposter syndrome and doubted my abilities to succeed. The collaborative environment and opportunities for mentorship in all areas helped me to transition within my first few weeks on campus.

What do you enjoy most about living in Chicago?

Chicago has so much to offer from events, great restaurants, and beautiful scenery. I can find something exciting to do every day of the week. Since returning here after undergrad, I've expanded my interests to include concerts, theatre and outdoor exercise on the lakefront trail. I'm often able to find free events around the city, just by being flexible!

Topics I can discuss with prospective students:

  • Life in Chicago
  • ECMH
  • AOSC/Research
  • Student Organizations/Affinity Groups (please see list above)
