Why did you choose Feinberg?

Feinberg stood out as soon as I began my research on medical schools. From what I learned talking to medical students across the country, geography plays a big role in how much people enjoy medical school. Northwestern is not only in Chicago (possibly the best city in the U.S. and universally loved by those who live here), its location within Chicago could not be more ideal. The lake/beach, Magnificent Mile, dozens of fantastic restaurants, and a beautiful park are all within a ~3-minute walk of the campus. Also, students can live pretty much anywhere they want in the city and get to campus quickly given the great public transit.

In addition to geography, Feinberg was a clear winner when it came to student satisfaction. The students I spoke to were universally thrilled with their decision to attend Feinberg. Their palpable enthusiasm and the great community they had with each other made Feinberg an easy choice.

What do you enjoy most about living in Chicago?

The people, the food, and the many awesome neighborhoods.

The people: the Midwest is known for having friendly people, and Chicago exemplifies this. My friends from college (I went to Northwestern) who moved to other cities after undergrad have noted that they miss how nice and welcoming everyone is in Chicago.

The food: every restaurant I have tried has been better than the last in this city. Four years of medical school is certainly too short to explore the incredible Chicago culinary scene.

The awesome neighborhoods: I have lived in Lakeview East/Boystown, Streeterville, and Gold Coast. I'm moving to Lincoln Park soon. Every neighborhood I have been to offers something different. There is a neighborhood (or many) here for everyone.

Share your path to Feinberg:

I was pre-med in undergrad and decided to go into consulting so I could learn about business before attending medical school. I was not sure if medicine was for me, but two years in consulting solidified my confidence in the decision to attend medical school. I plan to pursue the MD-MBA because I want to work on improving price transparency in healthcare with the goal of lowering healthcare prices for patients.
