Hello, my name is Ian Erkkila and I am a member of Feinberg’s class of 2024! When I first applied to medical school, I didn’t have a preference on where I went; however, as I dove deeper into school curriculums for my secondary applications, Feinberg quickly jumped to the top of my list, and I could not be happier to be here. I chose to attend Feinberg for a multitude of reasons, including early clinical involvement through ECMH, an exceptional access to hospitals and research opportunities, a balanced curriculum, the collaborative society and college system, and the overall Chicago experience. Adjusting to medical school (especially in a pandemic) is challenging for many, but the friends that I made helped me quickly adjust to the rigors of school and enjoy the medical school experience. When I am not studying, I can usually be found playing sports or games with friends, singing with Docappella, learning to play the guitar, or participating in mentoring programs or student committees. I am incredibly grateful to be a part of the Feinberg Family and am happy to answer any questions about the medical school application process or attending medical school here at Northwestern!
