Hey folks! Just your friendly neighborhood opera singer/medical student welcoming you wholeheartedly to my totally biased, yet entirely factual introduction to why I love Feinberg so much. Let me tell you a story about my application cycle. It sucked. In one of the most isolating and anxiety-provoking moments of my life, I summed up everything of "importance," put it on an electronic application, and sent it off to be evaluated by panels of strangers. And then Feinberg contacted me. Walking away from my interview day here in Chicago, I called my fiancée (now wife) and said "I need to come to this school." I showed up prepared to talk at length about all of my accomplishments and all the things I thought they wanted to hear. I left realizing that nobody here cared half as much about my publications as they did about who I was as a person. It was obvious that the good people here were just looking to connect with more good people. So, I took matters into my own hands. Well before the end of the interview season, I wrote a letter of intent to the admissions committee and told them about how much a Feinberg education would mean to me, and more importantly, how much it would mean to my future patients. I have no idea if it actually "worked," but less than a month later I received my acceptance letter and started pulling my applications with other schools. All this to say: 1. Feinberg is good people. 2. We want to know you. 3. We already care about your success.
