Hi everyone! My name is Devyn and I’m currently an M3 at Feinberg. I’m originally from Las Vegas and graduated from Duke back in 2013. I took a ton of gap years figuring out what I wanted to do with my life and eventually completed a post-bacc at UCSD in 2019. Why did you choose Feinberg?
For me, location and school-life balance were the two most important factors in choosing a medical school. While I knew medical school would be a lot of hard work anywhere, I wanted to make sure I was at a school where I could still be a real person outside of the classroom. When I talked with current students at my interview day, I definitely felt that they had ample time to complete their schoolwork while still maintaining their hobbies and having a lot of fun. I'm happy to report that this has definitely been my experience as a student here so far! On top of this, the fact that the school is located right in downtown Chicago really sold me. I've previously lived in both NYC and California and I feel Chicago is the perfect blend of both - you get all the perks of living in a big city at a lower cost & with a laid-back vibe. Having access to endless restaurants, bars, sports games and museums made me feel I could have a balanced, well-rounded life as a medical student at Feinberg.
Tell us a bit about your interests and hobbies outside the classroom.
I’m a certified yoga instructor and still continue to teach classes in my free time during medical school. I even got to teach my fellow classmates on our Wellness day! Besides that, I love to dance, cook, spend time with friends and my guilty pleasure is reality TV.
