Hi! My name is Ariz, and I'm currently navigating my first year at the Feinberg School of Medicine. My academic journey started at Northwestern, where I embarked on my undergraduate studies and subsequently pursued a Master's in Public Health. Anthropology was my undergraduate degree and I absolutely loved it-- I was able to delve into so many fascinating subjects that affect medicine like linguistics, politics, and economics. I came to FSM for so many reasons, but perhaps most unique is for the MD-MBA. As medical students at Northwestern, we have access to some of the best graduate institutions in the world and I've found that the more I learn outside of medicine, the more I can provide for my patient and population.

Growing up in Iowa, I have always felt strongly connected to the outdoors. Whether it is trying new restaurants, strolling on the riverwalk, or just exploring the diverse neighborhoods, I spend as much time as I can being out and about in Chicago.

At Northwestern I engage in biotech organizations, including Nucleate, and find an artistic outlet within musical ensembles like Docappella. I volunteer at the Devon clinic, am involved in surgical interest groups, and affinity organizations like SAMOSA and MSA. Beyond academia, my interests encompass boxing, guitar, and traveling to so many places with friends.

Topics I can discuss with prospective students:

  • Life in Chicago
  • Global Health
  • Student Wellness
  • Academic Support (studying, learning)
  • Student Organizations, Affinity Groups
  • Master of Business Administration (MD/MBA)
