DPT Faculty Teaching Teams
The DPT faculty at Northwestern University prioritizes the discovery and integration of new knowledge with education and clinical practice. With over 40 full-time core faculty and an abundance of adjunct clinical faculty, students are taught by experts in their field.
Patient management courses are taught through lectures and small group labs with at least a 10:1 student to faculty ratio, ensuring students receive the instruction and feedback required to become excellent clinicians. Research faculty bring the latest in technology and advancements directly to the classroom.
Together the faculty fosters a robust environment that encourages students and colleagues alike to work toward finding innovative and unique rehabilitation interventions to help individuals with movement disorders.

Our Teams
Anatomy
The anatomy team provides a deep understanding of the human body, focusing on muscles, bones, nerves and organs. Through hands-on learning and lab work, students gain the knowledge needed to assess movement, diagnose issues and provide effective physical therapy treatment.
Cardiovascular Pulmonary (CVP)
The CVP team teaches students how to help patients with heart and lung conditions improve endurance, breathing and overall function. Through hands-on training, students learn techniques to enhance mobility, strength and quality of life for people with conditions like heart disease, COPD and post-surgical recovery.
Clinical Education
The Clinical Education team connects classroom learning to real-world experience. During the DPT program, students participate in four clinical education (CE) experiences where they gain hands-on training in diverse healthcare settings, working with patients under the guidance of experienced physical therapists to build confidence, skills, and professional competence. Our CE Team will help place and connect students with their CE sites.
Musculoskeletal (MSK) & Orthopedic (Ortho)
Our musculoskeletal and orthopedic teams teach students how to assess, diagnose and treat conditions affecting bones, joints, muscles and soft tissues. Through hands-on training and evidence-based techniques, students learn to manage pain, restore movement, and improve function, preparing them to provide expert care in clinical settings.
Neurology (Neuro)
Throughout the Neuro curriculum, our Neuro team teaches students how to assess and treat people with neurological conditions like stroke, brain injury and Parkinson’s disease. Through hands-on training and evidence-based techniques, students learn to improve movement, balance, and independence, helping patients regain function and quality of life.
Pediatrics (Peds)
Our Pediatrics team teaches students how to assess and treat children with developmental, neurological and musculoskeletal conditions. Using play-based therapy and specialized techniques, students learn to improve movement, strength and coordination, helping kids reach their full potential.
Professional Role Development (PRD) & Psychosocial
The PRD & Psychosocial team teaches students the skills needed to be compassionate, ethical and effective physical therapists. Students learn about communication, leadership, cultural competence, and the emotional aspects of patient care to provide well-rounded, patient-centered treatment.
