Celebrating 100 years of excellence.

As we celebrate 100 years of excellence, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to each of you — students, faculty, staff, researchers, alumni and partners — who have been part of our journey. Your dedication, passion and support have shaped our legacy and continue to drive this program forward. Over the past century, we have grown, innovated and made lasting impacts in education, research and healthcare. This milestone is not just a reflection of our past but a foundation for the future we will build together. Thank you for being part of our history. Here’s to the next 100 years of discovery, progress and community.

Our History

Northwestern University was a national pioneer in establishing professional physical therapy education in the United States. The "Course in Physical Therapy" was established in 1927 offering graduates a Certificate in Physical Therapy and since then, we have welcomed thousands of students through our doors, who now graduate as Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT). As we head into our centennial year and celebrations, we invite you to join us in honoring our historic past and being part of our future. While not the first, Northwestern's is the longest lasting and is the oldest physical therapy school in the country.
