Walter S. and Lucienne Driskill Graduate Training Program in Life Sciences (DGP)

The Walter S. and Lucienne Driskill Graduate Training Program in the Life Sciences, formerly known as the Integrated Graduate Program in the Life Sciences (DGP), was established in 1990 to serve as an umbrella program for graduate student training in all basic science and clinical departments at the medical school. The program is designed to give its students flexibility in choosing courses, research interests, and thesis advisors at the medical school while offering them a strong foundation in the modern sciences. Students can earn a PhD degree in one of their nine curricula.

Northwestern University Interdepartmental Neuroscience Program (NUIN)

Four schools and 20 departments participate in this program that offers students a PhD in Neuroscience. Those enrolled work with faculty from the Graduate School, Feinberg School of Medicine, School of Speech and the School of Engineering. One of NUIN'goals is to provide the students with hands-on laboratory research.

MD/PhD - Doctor of Medicine/PhD (Medical Scientist Training Program, MSTP)

The MSTP program allows students to work towards both an MD and PhD degree through the medical school and the Graduate School, respectively. Students are first admitted to the medical school before applying for the MSTP.

The master of science in Clinical Investigation is a part-time evening program that complements the Master's of Public Health program in providing education in quantitative and ethically sound methods necessary for design, implementation, analysis, and publication of clinical research studies.

The Master of Science in Biostatistics is a four-quarter (July 1st – mid-June) program training postdoctoral and predoctoral scientists to apply current methods of epidemiology and biostatistics to conduct research on a range of health problems facing the population.

Master of Science in Health Services and Outcomes Research

The master of science in Health Services and Outcomes Research is a part-time program that provides interdisciplinary research training to students, fellows, residents and faculty who want to expand their research expertise and make contributions to the fields of health services and outcomes research. The program is geared toward physicians, PhDs, and experienced healthcare professionals, and aims equip graduates to investigate and address key issues related to the delivery and outcomes of healthcare.

Master in Health Informatics (MHI)

Whether your background is in information technology, health care or the life sciences, the Master of Science in Medical Informatics program builds upon your expertise and prepares you for the challenges of the field. Graduates will have the skills to fill positions across the entire spectrum of health care delivery: in independent practice, hospitals and health systems, and through implementation of EHRs and providing models of health information exchange.

MD/MPH - Doctor of Medicine/Master of Public Health

The MD/MPH Program allows students in the medical school to earn a master of Public Health degree part-time in the evening while they earn a MD at Feinberg. Administered through the Department of Preventive Medicine, students should first be accepted into the medical school before applying to the Graduate School.

Master in Prosthetics-Orthotics (MPO)

The Northwestern University Prosthetics-Orthotics Center masters in Prosthetics & Orthotics Program (MPO) is a full-time, two-year (21-month) academic curriculum that prepares the graduate to enter an accredited residency program, sit for national certification examinations, and become a successful entry-level practitioner in prosthetics and orthotics.

Master of Public Health (MPH)

The MPH program is a part-time evening program designed to prepare health care professionals to be boundary spanners between clinical care and public health. Students typically complete four hours of classroom instruction per week, year round, for three years. This program is administered through the Feinberg Department of Preventive Medicine.
