The Academy for Quality and Safety Improvement (AQSI) is a professional development program with overarching goal to develop future leaders by equipping them with the skills and tools necessary to lead meaningful change. The program includes QI formal training and a team project. AQSI participants are selected through a competitive application process that occurs in each region. NUEM has a strong tradition of resident-led projects being selected for AQSI. Recent projects have included creating sepsis alerts, improving concussion follow up, and decreasing frequency of opioid prescriptions.
