Research Opportunities

Research Rotations

Graduate medical training at Northwestern provides extraordinary clinical experiences and access to a rich research community. All trainees complete a research rotation in their second year to gain experience working within our university’s research enterprise.

Physician-Scientist Training Program & Starzl Academy

We are actively recruiting residents with dual degrees or otherwise unique backgrounds who demonstrate a strong commitment to a career in research to join our Physician-Scientist Training Program (PSTP) through the Starzl Academy. The PSTP experience is designed to support and facilitate the transition from residency training to a productive career in clinical research. Visit the EM PSTP page to learn more. The Starzl Academy serves as an umbrella over PSTP programs across Northwestern Medicine clinical departments and seeks a community that connects individuals to the investigative component of their training throughout their programs, exposing them to the full breadth of opportunity here at Northwestern and encouraging multidisciplinary interaction and collaboration. Browse our Starzl Academy website to explore the resources we offer to support our trainees’ research goals.
