Master of Science in Biomedical Informatics

Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine

Data. Biology. Medicine. One integrated program.

The Master of Science in Biomedical Informatics (MSBI) is a graduate program designed to train the next generation of scientists at the intersection of healthcare, data science and biology. Students gain expertise in analyzing complex biomedical data, from molecular “omics” datasets to clinical and population-level data.

 Explore the Program Tracks
MSBI offers two complementary tracks.

The MSBI program offers two complementary tracks:

Health Informatics
Focus on clinical, public health, and healthcare data

  • Electronic health records
  • Clinical decision support
  • Population health analytics

Bioinformatics (NEW)
Focus on biological and multi-omics data

  • Genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics
  • High-dimensional data analysis
  • Machine learning for biological systems

Unlike traditional programs, MSBI integrates molecular, clinical, and population-scale data science training in a single curriculum.
