My career as a researcher started in the basic sciences studying the role of glial precursors in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. As a fellow and junior faculty, I studied the role of hypoxia in oligodendrocyte development and its effect on white matter injury. I have continued to develop as a neonatal neurologist and neurocritical care neurologist.
Currently, I serve as interim director of the Neurocritical Care Program at Lurie Children's.[Shorten text]

Academic Focus

My area of clinical and research focus is neonatal neurology studying different aspects of the neurological disease burden in neonates. Currently, I study the role of rapid imaging in the work up of neonatal seizures.

Clinical Focus

I focus on the care of critically ill neonates and children with neurologic complications or primary neurologic injury. I form part of the Ken and Ruth Davee Neurocritical Care Program at Lurie Children's. My outpatient clinic focuses on the care of neonates and infants with neurologic disease.
