Dr. Gal Finer is a Board certified Pediatric Nephrologist, MD, PhD, clinician-scientist, and an Assistant Professor at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and The Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Dr. Finer has a strong background in monogenic diseases of the kidney while serving the Bedouin pediatric population in southern Israel, and in molecular pathways of renal fibrosis while working in the laboratory of Dr. William H. Her current research int...[Read full text]Dr. Gal Finer is a Board certified Pediatric Nephrologist, MD, PhD, clinician-scientist, and an Assistant Professor at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and The Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Dr. Finer has a strong background in monogenic diseases of the kidney while serving the Bedouin pediatric population in southern Israel, and in molecular pathways of renal fibrosis while working in the laboratory of Dr. William H. Schnaper. Her current research interest lies in understanding the pathophysiology and transcriptional regulation of Congenital Anomalies of the Kidney and Urinary Tract (CAKUT). To this end, Dr. Finer has been studying the roles of Transcription Factor 21 in branching morphogenesis of the kidney during embryonic development, in collaboration with the laboratory of Dr. Susan Quaggin at Northwestern. Her other academic interests include pediatric hypertension and medical education.
