Dr. Venkatachalam graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in Biology and French Literature. She received her Masters in Public Health from the George Washington University in Washington D.C., specializing in Epidemiology and Biostatistics and has done research at the National Cancer Institute. She received her Masters in Public Health from the George Washington University in Washington D.C., specializing in Epidemiology and Biostatistics and has done research at the National Cancer Institute. After earning her MD from the University of Tennessee, Memphis, she completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York University, earning awards both for research and teaching. Prior to joining the NSW, she was on faculty at Emory University, serving as Residency Coordinator in addition to providing outstanding patient care.

Dr. Venkatachalam is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and is a member of the Association of Professors of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the American Medical Association, and the American Association of Gynecological Laparoscopists. She has spent time in both Asia and Africa, providing services from prenatal care to STD prevention to underserved populations. She is fluent in Spanish and proficient in French.

In addition to her clinical and academic interests, Dr. Venkatachalam has also served as a guest speaker throughout Chicago, including at Prentice Hospital, Illinois’ Department of Health and Human Services, and local organizations like the Northside Parents Network and Step Up!, providing education to women of all ages on topics from infertility, endometriosis, abnormal uterine bleeding, and preventive care. She has appeared on local news channels to discuss various health concerns as well. This demonstrates her passionate belief that complete women’s care truly means educating and treating women on both the physical and the cerebral level.[Shorten text]

Dr. Venkatachalam is a Clinical Instructor with an appointment at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. Over the last 12 years she has earned teaching awards, reflecting the dedication she has to preparing the next generation of medical students and residents in the practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is a the Faculty Advisor for the Business of Medicine program for the Chief resident class and the Faculty Mentor for the OBGYN Medical Student Interest group. While she specializes in all aspects of general gynecology, her particular focus is in the evaluation and treatment of the abnormal pap smear, irregular and abnormal menstrual bleeding, adolescent issues, and urinary incontinence. Dr. Venkatachalam is committed to preventive care, including educating and caring women about...[Read full text]Dr. Venkatachalam is a board certified obstetrician/gynecologist with experience in providing progressive and comprehensive women’s care, from adolescence through menopause. While she specializes in all aspects of general gynecology, her particular focus is in the evaluation and treatment of the abnormal pap smear, irregular and abnormal menstrual bleeding, adolescent issues, and urinary incontinence. Dr. Venkatachalam is committed to preventive care, including educating and caring women about STDs, HPV, contraception, and fertility. She is an expert at minimally invasive surgery, including endometrial ablations, in-office permanent sterilization techniques, and hysteroscopic treatments for both abnormal bleeding and infertility.

Dr. Venkatachalam enjoys working with women with both low risk and high risk pregnancies. Her particular interest is working with woman with pregnancies that are complicated by hypertension, preterm labor, or diabetes, for which she has presented research at both the regional and national levels. She also enjoys caring for pregnant women who are athletes, have twin gestations, and desire evaluation for a vaginal delivery after a cesarean section.[Shorten text]
