Half Century Club Giving
Your Support Matters.
Half Century Club members are among our most generous and thoughtful alumni, and your philanthropic support is vital to the future of our faculty, student scholars, and medical research. We are often asked by our HCC alumni how they can further their impact at the medical school, and we welcome the opportunity to explore meaningful ways to do so together.
The U.S. tax code offers unique tax advantages to individuals over the age of 70 who engage in philanthropy. Our role at Northwestern is to advise and provide guidance on how to take advantage of these tax savings both during your lifetime and through your estate. We also can help you explore what approach is best suited to safeguard assets for you and your loved ones while fulfilling your charitable goals:
- Donor-advised funds (DAFs)
- Gifts that provide income for life, such as charitable gift annuity or charitable remainder trust
- Gifts of stock, bonds, mutual funds, or real estate
- Qualified charitable distributions (QCDs) through an IRA rollover if you’re 70½ or older*
*Satisfy your required minimum distribution (RMD) with a rollover if you are 72½ and older
We’re here to help you understand the various gift vehicles available and walk you through the myriad funding opportunities at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, whether it be scholarships, research support, medical education, or student programming—we can find what is right for you while making a meaningful impact. Or, if you are interested, you can make a gift online.
