Feinberg EXCEL Program
The Feinberg Early Excellence in Clinical Foundations, Education, and Leadership (EXCEL) Program is a two‑week summer pre‑matriculation initiative offered by the Feinberg Office of Health Equity in partnership with the Augusta Webster Office of Medical Education (AWOME) designed to support incoming M1 students as they transition into the academic, professional, and personal rigors of medical school. EXCEL provides students with the foundational tools, confidence, and community needed to begin their medical training prepared and empowered.
The program offers:
- M2-Led Curriculum Modules: Direct insights from second-year students on core medical concepts and effective study strategies.
- Skills for Success Workshops: Sessions focused on mental wellness, professionalism, study habits, and work-life balance.
- Faculty Talks: Exposure to diverse medical career paths and the perspectives of experienced educators and clinicians.
- Case-Based Learning: Introduction to clinical reasoning through structured case discussions.
The Feinberg EXCEL Program is open to all incoming first-year medical students who have officially committed to Feinberg. Space is limited for this program.
Program at a Glance
- Timing: Monday, July 13th - Friday, July 24th (excluding the weekends)
- Format: In‑person, immersive experience in Chicago
- Cohort: Up to 20 students are selected to foster connection and individualized support
- Financial Support: A one-time stipend is provided to assist with living expenses at the end of July
- Housing: On‑campus housing is not provided; participants must secure their own accommodations
