Directors' Message

We at the Lou and Jean Malnati Brain Tumor Institute of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University at Northwestern Memorial Hospital are here to serve patients suffering from a brain tumor, spinal tumor or tumor elsewhere in the central nervous system using tomorrow’s treatments today.

Malnati Brain Tumor Institute (MBTI) physicians and scientists have set the current standard of care for central nervous system tumors, using the most sophisticated diagnostic tools available to clarify each patient’s diagnosis and determine the most effective treatments. While the innovative treatments offered at MBTI distinguish us from other brain tumor treatment centers, our modern multidisciplinary approach to personalized care is really what sets this program apart.

From the second you walk through our doors, you will meet with a personal patient navigator who will help you through every step of your journey. From there, all patients are evaluated and discussed by our team of experts, resulting in a coordinated therapeutic plan involving all disciplines and modalities. This means the highest level of care with fewer doctor visits and less time required to establish a diagnosis and obtain a consensus opinion and care plan.

These care plans often include access to clinical trials. Supported by world-class research, our many clinical trials extend far beyond standard of care, giving patients access to the most advanced treatment options available. Participation in an experimental protocol doesn’t just benefit our patients, it fuels progress for cancer care and patients everywhere.

We encourage you to check this site frequently for news and breakthroughs. If you have questions, comments or would like to set up an appointment, please contact us.

Sincerely yours,

Drs. James Chandler and Roger Stupp (left to right)
