Sustained Dialogue

For Students

Sustained Dialogue is a program started by Sustained Dialogue Institute that equips students with the experience and tools to further develop active listening and facilitation skills when discussing difficult topics. The program gathers participants from diverse backgrounds to build relationships and create informed strategies to improve their campuses and communities. A key tenet of the program is recognizing others’ experiences, changing the tone from one of disagreement to one where individuals are comfortable sharing.

By the end of the nine-session program, each group of students will come up with an action plan to enact positive change on the Feinberg School of Medicine campus based on their conversations together.

For Staff

The Feinberg Office of Diversity & Inclusion, in collaboration with the Staff Engagement Committee, launched the Sustained Dialogue program exclusively for Feinberg staff in the fall of 2020. Moderators from the Sustained Dialogue Institute led seven virtual dialogue sessions with a group of Feinberg staff members. The topic of focus was race and racism.

Upon completion of the program, staff participants developed an action plan to help enact meaningful change at Feinberg.
