DEI Community of Practice

A Community of Practice (CoP) is a group of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine staff members who share a common concern, set of problems or interest in a topic and who come together to fulfill both individual and group goals.

The Feinberg Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Community of Practice aims to establish and enhance DEI practices and to discuss areas of growth and improvement at the medical school. Our CoP is a safe and brave space, free from judgment, that encourages dialogue and compassionate curiosity for change agents who are leading diversity, equity and/or antiracism committees or task forces.

Through purposeful connection and collaboration, we aim to build and exchange knowledge about:

  • Developing and implementing DEI best practices, such as those for recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce.
  • Addressing and reducing mistreatment of community members who are part of historically marginalized groups.
  • Raising DEI awareness.
  • Highlighting helpful DEI resources.
