How to Apply
We accept applications from candidates from allopathic and osteopathic medical schools. We utilize the ERAS system to process applications. We offer four categorical positions that include both the internship year and PM&R residency, beginning at the PGY-1 level. In addition, we offer one combined Pediatrics–PM&R position, also beginning at the PGY-1 level. We also have eight advanced PM&R residency positions, which begin at the PGY-2 level.
We begin accepting applications in early September through ERAS and start interviewing in late October. Interview invitations are distributed via ThalamusGME. All interviews are conducted virtually and take place from October through January. Each applicant participates in a full-day of virtual interviews designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to our program, and we also host weekly virtual social hours during the interview season to allow applicants to connect with our residents in a more informal setting. We participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and fully adhere to all Match guidelines.
We ask all applicants to include a paragraph in their personal statement describing why Chicago and the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine PM&R Residency Program are a good fit for their training and career goals. In addition, we participate in the ERAS Supplemental Application. Applicants to PM&R may submit up to 20 program preference signals, and we encourage applicants to consider signaling their home institution or any institutions where they have completed clinical rotations.
