DPT/MPH

The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program is offered by the Department of Physical Therapy & Human Movement Sciences (PTHMS). Our Master of Public Health program is thrilled to partner with the PTHMS to offer a dual-DPT/MPH degree.

The DPT/MPH program at Northwestern University provides one of only a few opportunities in the country for students to pursue both degrees. The combination of coursework from both programs emphasizes both individual and population health improvement.

The dual degree can be completed in three years, with coursework from both programs completed concurrently. Students will begin MPH coursework during the summer prior to matriculating into the DPT program.

Applicants must first apply to and be accepted into the DPT program. More information is available on the PTHMS website.

Professional Experiences

The Applied Practice Experience (APEx) is a two-course sequence and 160 hours of practice work at an approved site. In the Culminating Experience (CE), you have the opportunity to bridge theory and practice with a synthesis "thesis" or "capstone"-style project.
