Welcome to the website for the Department of Cell & Developmental Biology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Within this site, you learn more about the basic research programs of our faculty here at Feinberg. Our work with methodologies ranging from gene knockouts to super-resolution microscopy is providing important insights into the fundamental causes of many human diseases.
Department faculty members are active in the Northwestern community and in the international field of biomedical research. They also are engaged in the training of graduate students, medical students, and postdoctoral fellows.
Our graduate students are recruited through the Driskill Graduate Program in Life Sciences, the Northwestern University Neurosciences Institute, and the Medical Scientist Training Program. In addition to the training they receive through these programs, our Department offers students and fellows access to the broader research community through research seminars and journal clubs. The faculty are also deeply involved in mentoring students throughout their training period. This helps our trainees to develop the skills they will need for a successful research career.
Our goal is to expand our research enterprise in the coming years by attracting new faculty and students and to expand our collaborative research efforts with colleagues both at Northwestern and other institutions. Please refer to our Careers page for information on opportunities within our department.
I welcome you to contact me with your feedback and questions.
