Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Marks Opening of Stephen M. Stahl Center for Psychiatric Neuroscience
May 2, 2025

On May 1, stakeholders for the new Stephen M. Stahl Center for Psychiatric Neuroscience in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine gathered for a ribbon cutting at the center’s headquarters at Searle Medical Research Building, 320 E. Superior St. in Chicago.
Stephen M. Stahl, ’75 MD, PhD, and his wife, Shakila, generously funded the new center in 2024. The center marks a homecoming for Dr. Stahl, whose successful career in neuropharmacology was launched at Northwestern. The center supports investigators across Northwestern who share the common goal of understanding the neural mechanisms underlying illnesses including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It is led by Sachin Patel, MD, PhD, chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and the Lizzie Gilman Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
