Men in Medicine

The Northwestern Medicine GCM Grosvenor Scholars Program offers outstanding high school students from George Westinghouse College Prep High School, Daniel Hale Williams Prep and Bronzeville Scholastic Institute the opportunity to explore and prepare for a future in life sciences as physicians and biomedical scientists. Now in its 13th year, the program hosted their annual Men in Medicine and Science event which inspires first-year male students to explore the world of medicine and science in a half-day participatory session on our medical campus.

One of the most powerful voices in the community is that of its young people. Jamir B., a first-year student at George Westinghouse College Prep, attended the event and had this to say about his experience:

As with meeting actual professionals with their expansive knowledge and experience, it made achieving my aspirations to be in the medical field feel much more realistic and tangible; leading me to feel exponentially more engaged and interested with medicine.”
