Shared Resource Panels (ShARPs)
Shared Resource Panels (ShARPs) are custom panels that bring together 8-10 community collaborators with professional and/or personal expertise related to a research project. These community experts offer feedback on adaptations that can improve research relevance, feasibility, and/or dissemination opportunities. Following CCH guidelines and principles of engagement, we ensure participants are properly compensated. Panels may be conducted in-person or via web conference based on preference and feasibility. This is one of the many services that CCH offers to engage communities in research with the aim of expediting the translation of research findings into solutions that improve health throughout the Chicagoland area.
Update to ShARP Funding and Planning Guidelines
At this time, we currently require a minimum of 8 weeks from the time a research team requests a ShARP session to the date the session is conducted due to limited capacity. We currently provide one ShARP session free of charge if conducted during the grant preparation/pre-award phase.
For teams requesting a ShARP session for an existing/funded project, we ask that research teams include funding for a ShARP session within their project budgets. The requested budget allocation helps ensure that community partners and participants are appropriately recognized for their time and contributions. Depending on the session format (virtual or in-person), costs primarily support participant compensation and, for in-person sessions, refreshments or meals.
For more information on these updates and an estimated ShARP budget, please contact Megan Sanico, Program Coordinator, at megan.sanico@northwestern.edu.
