Chair's Message

Welcome to the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. This is an exciting time to be a scientist. We are capable of sequencing entire human genomes in only a few short days and analyzing these genomic sequences for mutations and abnormalities that are associated with human diseases including cancer. In the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics, we have been provided substantial resources to focus our attention on the biochemical, structural, enzymological, molecular, and genetic bases of human disease, with the additional advantage of using multiple model systems in the process. Our new department was established as of September 1, 2014, and is dedicated to state-of-the-art molecular research using the newest of technologies, and to the education and training of the next generation of scientists and physician scientists.

When you walk through the halls of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics at Feinberg, you are not only struck by our advanced and high-tech facilities, but also by the wonderfully welcoming scientists, clinicians, and staff who are genuinely committed to their research. I welcome you as you browse through our departmental webpage to learn about our world-class scientists and be inspired by the view of the frontline of where new, basic molecular discoveries are being made that will make differences in the lives of many.

Please feel free to contact us for more information.
