7th Grade STEM Field Trip

St. Symphorosa

Molecular Biology (DNA and Protein Gel)

Students could touch and see protein gel being used to learn about DNA and molecular biology.

Students were able to interact with the robot and see how next generation sequencing is done.

Students were able to see what cells looked like under the microscope and learn about microscopy in cancer research.

Bioinformatics and Medical Illustration

After seeing different ways of conducting and collecting research, students were able to see how all of the data is translated. They then saw the impact visuals can have in research and how they are created.

Students learned about bacteria and microorganisms.

Chemical Biology and Cancer Therapeutics

Students were taught about cancer drug treatment and how new therapeutics are leading the way in personalized medicine.
