Clinical trials are part of clinical research and at the heart of all medical advances. They look at new ways to prevent, detect, or treat disease. Treatments developed through trials might be new drugs or new combinations of drugs, new surgical procedures or devices, or new ways to use existing treatments. The goal of clinical trials is to determine if a new approach works and is safe. Clinical trials can also look at other aspects of care, such as improving the quality of life for people with chronic illnesses.

At Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, hundreds of trials are ongoing daily. Those interested in volunteering for a study are encourged to browse the list below to search for trials by department or by disease or condition.

How to Volunteer

To become a research volunteer, join our online registry. Also called a research registry or participant database, registrants who answer introductory questions are eligible for participation in research studies at Northwestern.

Volunteers can search our list of trials by department or by diseases and conditions, found on this page, and use the contact information provided. Additional Feinberg clinical trials can be searched at clinicaltrials.gov.

If you do not find a research study or trial at Feinberg, you may also register as a volunteer at ResearchMatch.org to volunteer for trials taking place at academic medical centers nationwide.
